Pictures from Mårbu
Mårbu is idyllically situated at the north end of the lake Mår, right on the border of Hardangervidda National Park. Around the cabin itself you will find a friendly hilly terrain, and further away high mountain tops and valleys with peaks up to 1400 meters above the sea level. In summer it is possible to take a boat across lake Mår all the way to the cabin. You can also walk to the cabin. Mårbu is located on Skartåkervollen along the South Nordmannsslepa.
The cabin is a natural stopover during a cabin-to-cabin trip on Hardangervidda, but the area also offers great day trips, and is well suited for families with children who want to stay for several days. DNT Drammen and Omegn have introduced free accommodation and reduced food prices for children on trips to Mårbu and Rauhelleren. There are also good fishing opportunities near the cabin, and boats can be rented. At Mårbu there are also horses, chickens, pigs and lambs.
The lodge serves a three-course dinner every day. The cabin is staffed during the summer season and at parts of the winter including Easter. Check our opening dates for more details. The cabin has 46 beds in 2- and 4-person rooms, washing room, shower and drying room.
Out of season there is self-service in the security cabin (20 beds), which is locked with DNT key. Remember to bring a valid membership card.
